How To Connect and Disconnect Flat Spade Connectors

Using flat spade connections (used between the speed controller and motor) is easy when you know the technique and you won't damage the locking tab mechanism which will occur if the the connection is forcibly pulled apart.

Insertion

Insert the flat spade into the quick disconnect rail as shown. An insertion of only 1/4" is needed, and you will hear a click to indicate locking has occurred.

The bottom view shows the locking lever overextended which occurs if you force the insertion beyond 1/4". This makes it easy to see how the locking mechanism works, but we don't recommend forcing the insertion beyond the locking position as it may reduce the "spring" in the lever.

Release
Finger Nail Method

If you've got finger nails, this works well provided you stay clear of the lever spring so it can deflect freely. Upon release, the flat spade should pull out easily.

Release
Bench Method

This is fool proof, provided the release tab is hanging over the edge. Again, this allows the lever spring to deflect freely. Upon release, the flat spade should pull out easily.
